Nine boxers advance to state golden gloves tourney

ET BOXERS ADVANCE: Tyler — Nine East Texas boxers participating in the 72nd East Texas Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament over the weekend in Tyler advanced to the 2012 Texas State Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament, set for Feb. 29-March 3 in Fort Worth.
Representing East Texas will be:
114 pounds: Alex Martinez (Luv “2” Ball Boxing Club, Longview)
123 pounds: Oscar Morales (Lumberjack Boxing, Nacogdoches)
132 pounds: Kenneth Taylor (Troup Boxing Gym)
141 pounds: Jerrion Campbell (Jacksonville Boxing)
152 pounds: Jose Perales (East Texas Boxing, Kilgore)
165 pounds: Anthony Fields (Troup Boxing Gym)
178 pounds: Jeremy Butler (Troup Boxing Gym)
201 pounds: Shamarian Snider (Troup Boxing Gym)
201-plus: Abraham Ligon (Troup Boxing Gym)
Coaches for the ET Golden Gloves Team will be Shawn Vascocu and Ken Jones.
Other awards presented on Saturday were the sportsmanship award (Hansel Blas, Scorpion Boxing, Tyler), outstanding all-comer boxer (Ke’Aundre Watkins, Troup Boxing Gym), outstanding novice boxer (Blane Wallace, D-Rocks Gym, Marshall), E.A. “Lucky” Vascou overall touranment champion award (Oscar Morales, Lumberjack Boxing, Nacogdoches) and overall team award (Troup Boxing Club).
